Career Highlights

John Betts arrived in NSW in 1828, and took up land at Summerhill, Frederick’s Valley near Bathurst. In 1830, at St John's Parramatta, he married Mary Marsden, daughter of Reverend Samuel Marsden. She was later a landowner at `Vale Head', Molong and licensee of Molong station. The Marsden/Betts syndicate (Samuel, Thomas, Martha, Mary and Elizabeth Marsden, with John Betts) acquired at least ten grants and leases in Country Wellington during the 1830s, being properties along the Molong and Bell Rivers and around Naudillon Ponds
