These blocks totalled an area of 1 acre 2 roods.
During February 1945, the Weston Public School Mothers' Club funded
the installation of electricity to Weston School. The electrical contractor
was G.W. Wilson from Kurri.
A portion of the playground was ashphalted on 4th January 1946. This
work plus minor repairs to the school building by the Departmental staff amounted
to £594.18 . 7. ($1,189.87). Some internal painting costing £152.4.l. ($304.41),
was also completed early in 1947.
The Education Departmental paint and repair staff, o:, 2~:~ May 1952,
completed a number of repair items to both the school and the Hea~=aster's
residence. The costs are listed as:-
Repair School fencing = £258. 3.2. ($516.32)
Extend Water Services = £164. 4.4. ($328.44)
Repairs Residence = £170.11.5. ($341.15)
Some major renovations to Weston School, including the re:.ewal of the
roof and guttering, were completed on 14th November 1957, at a cos~ of
£9,831.9.3. ($19,662.93). The Headmaster's residence had repaint and repair
attention and was completed on 16th Dece~ber 1967. Work was est~=ated to have
cost £1,583.0.0. ($3,166.00).
New toilet and ablution blocks for the infants and ·,:e!"e completed
on 30th November 1966. The Education Department had estimated tha: this new
work would cost £6,515.0.0. ($13,030.00). When tenders were ~al~e~, the
successful contractors were A. & M. No vak and Coy. Pty. Ltd., ~i:~ their quote
of £5,538.10.0. ($11,077.00).
