A new weathershed and lavatory for the infants school was constructed
and completed on 25th November 1929. This work was performed by the Education
Department's repair and paint staff and was assessed as having cost £102.0.0.
($204 .00).
Electricity was connected to Weston School on 3rd December 1937.
Repairs to the Primary School were completed on 29th May 1938, by the Education
Department's repair and paint staff. These repairs were estimated as costing
£343.7.4. ($686.74).
On 31st May 1938, 230 pupils attended a film showing at the Capitol
Theatre Weston. Again on 3rd June 1939, another school outing was made to
a film showing at the Capitol Theatre. The Theatre Company advised the school
that such film showings would not be continued in following years because the
Company was losing money by providing such shows.
During the months of August, September and October 1939, all pupils
were immunised against diphtheria in a mass district campaign.
Some renovations and remodelling were made in 1944 to the Weston
Headmaster's residence by the Department's work staff. The Works Supervisor
had estimated the project to cost £411.0.0. ($822.00), including connection
to the Hunter District Water Board sewerage mains, but the actual costs were
more than double the estimate, with a final total of £852.13.3. ($1,705.33).
Further minor repairs to the residence were completed on 19th June 1946, at
a cost of £209. 6.1. ($l:l8. 61).
With the gro~th of school enrolment numbers, it also beca~e necessary
to increase the playground area. To achieve this, on 11th September 1945, the
following adjoining la~d properties ~ere purchased. These were:-
