boycotting the school. These charges were made:-

                1 . Expulsion of a boy
                2. Requesting boys to pick-up wine on his behalf
                3. Heavy punishment of his pupils
                4. Other minor charges.

An inquiry was held. The inspector hearing the case considered the expulsion
of the boy was necessary on the facts presented. The charge of picking-up
wine was that the teacher had requested two boys to meet a carrier at the
school gate and to guard the carrier's delivery for some ten (10) minutes
until the teacher himself was able to come and take his flagon of wine to
his residence. This was substantiated by the two boys involved. Similarly,
the inspector found the other charges were not supported. On this basis,
the Minister of the Department did not see sufficient reason to transfer
the teacher. At the fellowing Christmas vacation Mr. Frappe declined
a tra~sfer offer. However, the Department of Public Instruction made the

                Thomas Walton, of High Street Greta, on 15th June 1911, was engaged
for £12.19.0 ($25.90) to effect repairs at the school. These repairs included
renewing the guttering and correcting some dampness etc. George Pinchen of
Keinbah, on 31st January 1913, was paid £18.0.0 ($36.00) to erect a new fence.

                The shingle roof was replaced with corrugated galvanised iron on
16th July 1914, by H.Y. Russell of 64 Mt. Pleasant Street Maitland. In
addition, some other minor repairs and repainting raised the costs to £166.1.5
($332. 15).

                Teacher Uriah Hughes, in late 1920, requested the construction of
an acditional bedroom because of his large family. The Department's Day
Work Staff also added e ne'.·I bathroom and a co'1ered walkway between the
residence and the detac~ed kitchen and wash-house. Another importan~ repair
made ·t1as to replace an earlier 'poor slate' damp course. Their total work
was assessed as costing £326.19.3 ($653.93).
