MOUNT VIEW SCHOOL
Inspector J.D. Bradley recommended that the application for a school at Mount
View should be declined on the following grounds:-
1. That Mr. J. McGann had previously been advised by
the Council on 19th September 1878 that if a school
was to be established, the local residents had to
provide the buildings and furniture.
2. That Mr. McGann's reply on 19th December 1878
indicated that the local residents were unable to
do this.
3. That the local residents appeared to allow the
question to lapse.
4. That a recent Pokolbin School Application was
approved on the basis that the central site
selected met the requirements of both Pokolbin and
Mount View.
The local Mount View residents refused to accept this decision.
On 27th October 1879 a further petition was submitted. This petition had
been signed by eleven (11) male parents and indicated to the Counc.il of Edu-
cation that amongst their families there were forty seven (47) children of
school age, twenty seven (27) boys and twenty (20) girls, within two miles
of their suggested school site.
Inspector Bradley was requested to make a further examination. ยท
In his report dated 1st December 1879, he stated:-
1 . Population of Mount View area was about one hundred (100)
peciple.
2. Possible school enrolments could be twenty five (251 boys
ar.d twenty (20) girls - a total of forty five (45).
