                                                         MISTLETOE FARM SCHOOL

daily pupil attendance did not average ten. The school was closed in May
1937 and all the furniture moved to the Branxton School. On 27th September
1937, the building and grounds were let to J.W. Trevena at a rental of 1/-
($0.10) per annum.

                On 31st January 1938, Mr. J.W. Trevena wrote to the Department of
Education indicating that eight (8) families now lived within a two (2) mile
radius of the school. Collectively, these families had 16 children of school
age. The Department's Inspector made an examination of the area and the old
schoolhouse and in his report recommended that the school be re-opened as a
'Provisional', provided the parents replaced the schoolhouse door, which was
missing. The school re-opened on 17th May 1938, with Mr. Arthur Challinor
as teacher.

                The next teacher, Benjamin A. Smith, on 7th August 1939, received
a forage allowance of £5.4.0. ($10.40) per annum for the use of his bicycle.

                The school finally closed on 31st October 1940. The old building
and site were sold on 13th September 1968, to J.W. Trevena, a resident of the
area.
