On 8th November 1937, electric power and lighting was installed
in both the school and the residence.
The Millfield school teacher's residence, on 27th July 1942,
received some minor repairs from the Departmental works staff. The super-
visor had estimated these minor repairs to cost £77.12.4. ($155.24) but the
actual work on completion was valued at £182.7.8. ($364.78). Some further
remodelling, renovations and repainting of the residence was completed by the
Departmental works staff on 20th October 1946. This project was estimated
to cost £935.0.0. ($1,870.00). However the actual price was £1,098.5.7.
($2' 196. 57 ) .
On 16th January 1956, the Education Department authorised some
renovations to the school. These included an additional classroom twenty-five
(25) feet by twenty-five (25) feet plus a Principal's office and a storeroom.
The alterations converted the school building into an "L" shape design.
G.W. Deards won the contract for the additions with his quote of
£2,818.0.0. ($5,636.00). The area was completed and occupied on 18th March
1959. More minor repairs, valued at £415.0.0. ($830.00) were made on 13th
May 1963.
To brighten the school for its centenary celebrations the Education
Department repainted the school internally and externally. This cost
£2,897.10.0. ($5,795.00) and was completed on 12th June 1968.
