In 1920, Cessnock Public School beca~e an un-classified Intermediate
High School.

In 1923, Cessnock Public School was re-graded as an Intermediate High
School (second class).

George Lewis                13th December                       1924

In 1926, Cessnock Public School was riased to the status of an
Intermediate High School (first class).

David Lavey                 1st December                        1933

In 1934, the secondary school and :~e primary school, althoug~ in the
same school grounds, were separate: under separate headmasters. John
Murray became the first headmaster of the High School (first class).
David Lavey continued as headmaster of the Cessnock Primary School.
