KURRI KURRI HIGH SCHOOL
was completed on 25th October 1983. As well as the large open general
Library, provision was made for two seminar, or study areas, a video-room,
a workroom to enable book repairs to be made, and a Librarian's office.
Kurri High School has its own song. It was written by Norman
Eade, who was a student at Kurri Junior Technical School, in the Primary
School, when he wrote it. In 1941, music teacher Arthur D. Morris set it
to music. Basically, this is the original song:-
"KURRI KURRI HIGH SCHOOL SONG" ·
First Verse
We are the scholars of Kurri Kurri School,
Where our teachers always tell us to obey the Golden Rule,
First, second, third, clubbing in together,
With no desire to shirk our part no matter what the weather,
Pals with our teachers, and pals with one another,
A splendid fellow feeling everyone of us a brother.
CHORUS
Kurri Kurri sing our old school song,
Kurri Kurri join our merry throng,
Square your chest and lift your chin, everybody sing,
Let this be your motto, first in everything.
Second Verse
When you're doing lessons, always try to make a name,
When you're on the sporting field to always play the game,
Play clean and fight clean, be clean in everything,
And never shirk a duty to your country, home or King,
So when you meet with trouble face it with a song,
and always do your very best to help the world along.
REPEAT CHORUS.
Kurri High School motto is "Courage, Honour, Ser·1ice" - qualities of
character which stamp fine citizens. The school has been fortunate that it has
always had a strong, virile Parents and Citizens Association. Kurri High School
