Town water supply from the Hunter District Water Board Mains
was connected to both the school and the residence on 24th April 1929.
The school teacher's residence was vacated on 16th February
1938. The Education Department decided to sell this property when its
Works staff condemned the building and reported it was not worth repairing.
The property was sold to H. R. Hall of Ell along. Perhaps this encouraged
the Department of Education to unload its excess property. On 6th August
1949, it revoked its rights to Lot No. 2 Section 18, the site where the
school was destroyed by fire and it too was purchased by H.R. Hall.
The Education Department's repair staff, on 25th January 1944,
completed renovations and some re-painting at the school. The costs were
valued at £299.1.2 ($598.12). Large renovations were made by this section
on 26th June 1957. These were assessed at £1 ,520.0.0 ($3,040.00). On
26th September 1963, some minor repairs and an external and internal re-
paint of the Ellalong school were estimated to cost £1,174.0.0 ($2,348.00).
