CESSNOCK HIGH SCHOOL
The following year, on 19th September 1967, the Education
Department's repair staff renovated the clerical assistant's accommodation.
The cost was estimated to be £838.00 ($1 ,676.00).
Cessnock High School has a very fine record of academic and
sporting achievements. It would be unfair to the many fine sportsmen
and sportswomen to select only a few to name in this history. Sufficient
to say that the pupils, both boys and girls, have carried the banner
of Cessnock High School gloriously and magnificently in many and varied
sports. Many have represented the district, the State and also Australia.
Cessnock High School students have also achieved many ' high distinctions
in the academic field. Here again, many have advanced to higher fields
of Education, and Cessnock High School has basked in the glory of these
fine achievements. These and other students have held high positions
in Civic, Commercial, Judicial, Medical and Governemnt fields. Once
more, it would indeed be unfair to select just a few names from the
many students who have done Cessnock High School such great honour.
Australia's continge!1ts to war spheres since the establishment of Cessnock
High School have included quite a number of ex-students and teachers.
Some of these proudly gave their lives for our country.
,School sporting records in some events, particularly in the
fields of athletics and swimming, have stood for long periods. The list
