Downing Street, 3d July, 1833.

Sir,
I am directed by Mr. Secretary Stanley to transmit to you the enclosed copy of a letter from the Church Missionary Society on the subject of the payment of the sum of £500 appropriated to the maintenance of the Mission to the Aborigines of New Holland; and I am to desire (unless you should have done so since the date of your Despatch, No. 71 of the 5th last) that you will issue to the Agents of the Society the sum of £166 13s. 4d. on account of the half salary of the Missionaries, which the Secretary of State agreed to allow them from the date of their embarkation till their arrival. You will, of course, require the usual Certificates as to the actual date of embarkation. I am further to desire that you will issue to the same parties the full salary of the Revd. J.C. Handt, at the rate of £250 from the date of his arrival till he was joined by his co-adjutor, when the payment of the whole Grant commenced, as stated in your abovementioned Despatch.

I am, &c.,
R.W. Hay
