It is of particular significance and interest that the N.S.W. State
Government granted a fifty per cent (50%) subsidy towards the Mulbring Water
Reticulation Scheme.

Branxton township had long pressed for the installation of a sewerage
scheme. It was not until 3rd May, 1972 that part of its area was so equiped.
Sewerage was gravitated to a single station and then pumped to a treatment works
situated in East Branxton. Here the refuse and waste matter is treated in a
"Pasveer Channel System" a type of ditch method. The purified effluent finally
flowing into Anvil Creek.

The treatment works is sited on 9 acres 0 Roods 34~ Perches (DP561033)
and is part of Lot 1, Parish of Branxton. This land was purchased by the Board
from Mrs. J.C. Thomas and finally settled and conveyed during January, 1974.
The pumping station is located on 162.6 square meters on part of Portion No 195,
Parish of Branxton, quite close to the corner of New England Highway and
Cessnock Road.

In the Branxton Station there are to pumping units. H.D.W.B. contract
No. 382, for a cost of $3912.00 authorised the successful tenderer K.A.B. Projects
Pty._Ltd., to supply two "Forrer Paco Pty. Ltd.," submersible sewer pumps type
Model 5BC-NSC. These pumps operate at 1450 revolutions per minute .using a
five-inch (5'') suction and a six-inch (6 11 ) drive movement to produce 530 gallons
per minute in an eighty-five (85') feet lift. Two thirty (30) H.P. Industrial
Machine submersible electric motors (415 volts, 3 phase, 50 cycle). Also
operating at 1450 revolutions per minute drive the pumps. This pumping station
was automatic from its completion on 3rd May, 1972.

At the Branxton treatment works contractor K.A.B. Projects with a quote
of $1993.00 had won contract No. 403 to supply two ''Forrer Paco type-NSC Model
4097M" sewerage pumps. These pumps operate at 720 revolutions per minute with a
four (4") inch drive and four-inch (4") suction movement to produce sixty-five
(65) gallons per minute for a seven (7') feet lift. The pumps are driven by two
one H.P. Industrial Machines Submersible electric motors (415 Volt, ]phase,
50 cycles) which also operate at 720 revolutions per minute.

Still another area of Branxton was added to the scheme in June 1975.
To service this particular park a large septic holding tank was constructed on
Lot 14, Section 8, Station Street, Branxton.
