          YANGO CREEK SCHOOL

                A school teacher, Charles Langlands, was drowned at Yango on
6th December 1903.

                A new school building was built and occupied on 3rd August 1908.
The contractor had been Reece Lewis of Horsehoe Bend, Maitland. The cost had
been £135.0.0 ($270.00). This building consisted of a classroom, twenty
(20) feet by sixteen (16) feet. It had an enclosed verandah twenty (20) feet
by eight (8) feet. The school daily average attendance at this time was
seventeen (17) pupils. The following furniture was supplied by the Department
of Public Instruction for use in this new school:-

Six (6)   Desks
Six (6)   Forms
One (1 )  Medium size Blackboard
One (1 )  Easel
One (1 )  Book press
One (1 )  Table (3 feet by 2 feet)
One (1 )  Austrian Chair (Value 6/- [. 60¢])
One (1 )  Hat rack and hooks.

The old school building was sold on 11th August 1908 to R.J. Bevan of Yango
for the sum of £3.5.0 ($6.50).

                When school enrolments dropped to below ten (10) pupils, the Education
Departmen~ closed Yango School in December 1925.

                The school building was put up for tender sale by the Department
in 1930. T. Cagney of "Hillcrest" property was the successful purchaser with
his offer of £15.0.0 ($30.00).

            The school site of some 5t acres was sold by the Education Department

to M. Cag~ey !Jnr.) on 6th September 1938.
