contractor was Cecil Marcus Wallis of Boronia Street Dee Why, with his quote
of £445.o.o. · ($890.00l.
The,' new school was completed on 14th May 1929. The new furniture
supplied included:-

6 Forms 6 feet 8 inches long
2 Blackboards
1 Table
1 Chair
1 Large Book Press
Memorial gates erected on 7th November, 1921 at the entrance to the
grounds of the '1901' school were valued by the teacher of t~at period, Elizabeth
Kealy, at £85.0.0. ($170.00). These memorial gates were re~oved and re-erected
in June 1929 at the new school-ground . by Mr. E;B. Roberts, Stonemason of Cessnock,
at a cost of £12.0.0. ($24.00). The old '1901' school buildings were sold
for £16.10.0. ($33.00) to W.J. Monnox of Quorrobolong. The Education Department
retained the land and Mr. Monnox was required to demolish and remove · the old
building.
On 8th March 1939, the Education Department's repair and paint staff
completed a repaint of the schoolhouse internally and externally. On 2nd March
1954, Mr. C. Archer, a contractor, made extensions to the school water supply.
His quote had . been £19.18.6. ($39.86).
In December 1955, the Education Department requested an investigation
as to possible costs o( renovations arid extensions to Quorrobolong. The
Department's Architect estimated .that such proposed alterations might cost
£2,187.. 10.0. ($4,375.00). The Depart.ment stood the question of alterations
over for a period. Although some new desks were acquired during this year,
the need was not great. School enrolment numbers had dropped for a number
of years. Finally, the Education Department closed the school at the end of
the 1961 s~hool year.
