two (22) feet by twenty two (22) feet and a hatroom fifteen (15) feet by eight
(8) feet. ' The Department directed the Richmond Vale School buildings should
be transported to Pelaw Main. This was done on 16th January 1933, by the
Departmental staff and was estimated to have cost £125.0.0. ($250.00). The
following school furniture was supplied by the Department:-

Still school enrolment numbers continued to grow, and still more
accommodation was required. To meet this demand, on 5th August 1936, the
Education Department, by Order Requesition No. 0-5141, directed that a single
portable classroom should be transported from Mortdale to Pelaw Main. On arriva
at Pelaw Main, it was found that the classroom needed to be lined, and a stove
was required to be supplied. Both these items were omitted from the Order.
· This work was assessed as costing £83.17.4. ($167.74) when it was completed
by the Department's repair staff.
Following a visit by the Departmental School Medical Officer, and
a strong complaint from him on -the school condition, the schoolhouse was given
a repaint internally and externally on 29th April 1938. This project was valued
at £148.8.8. ($296.88) and was carried out by Departmental work staff. Five
(5) years later on 29th December 1943, the school was again repainted by the
Department~l staff. On this occasion the work cost £408.0.0. ($816.00).
Some minor ground improvements were made on 16th December 1947, at a cost of
£225.0.0. ($450.00).
An additional area of 36~ perches (being Lot 6), was purchased from
J.J. Staffer for £210.0.0. ($420.00) on 2nd September 1954. This was to increas E
the size of the· school playground.
Renovations, repairs and a repaint, were completed on 26th April 1957,
by the Department's paint and repair staff. This project cost £2,047.0.0.
