fourteen (14) feet by twelve (12) feet, twelve (12) feet high in the front
and nine (9) feet at the back. His quote was £27.10.0. ($55.00).

                The classroom, after the re-construction in 1891, was thirty one
(31) feet by sixteen (16) feet and had three blocks of desks, each block having
three (3) desks. In September 1909, when the school enrolment exceeded sixty
(60) pupils, the Department of Public Instruction decided to add another class-
room twenty one (21) feet by twenty one {21) feet and a hatroom twenty one
(21) feet by nine (9) feet. At the same time, a new 900 gallon water tank
was provided, plus some repairs to the residence. The Department of Public
Works estimated the cost at £331.6.0. {$662.60). When tenders were called,
the successful contractor was William J. Brown of Second Avenue, Fivedock.
His price was £307.0.0. ($614.00). The work was completed on 28th February
1910.

                The Mount View School Principal, Mr. Frank de Witt Taylor, on 27th
January 1910, requested the transfer of his recently appointed assistant Miss
K. Feehan, due to her alleged un-punctuality and insolence. When in 1911
Mr. F. de Witt Taylor requested the transfer of his next assistant, Miss
Alberta Chapman, for similar reasons, Senior Inspector W. Cornish decided to
leave Principal Taylor without an assistant for a period.

                The old original school site was finally sold on 27th December 1920,
to Mr. C. King, for £50.0.0. ($100.00).

                During 1920, the Department utilised its repair and painting staff
to eradicate white-ants in .both the school and the residence. Tnis cost was
assessed at £350.0.0. {$700.00). The white-ants continued to ravage until
finally the Department decided to erect a new residence and to reL:odel the
school. The project was carried out by the day labour section of the Depart-
ment of Education's repair staff. The supervising architect, Mr. Crannon,
the building section foreman L. Alderman and their staff comp l eted the work
on 10th Novemb.er 1926. The cost was assessed at £1,396.18.0. ($2, 793.80).

                On 2nd November 1938, the school and residence were both re-painted
by the Education Departmental staff at a cost of £192 . 7.8. ($384.78).
