General repairs and repainting of the Laguna School residence
were made on 10th August 1959.· These repairs were valued at £526.0.0.
($1,052.00). The school received a repaint following some repairs and
renovations made during 1968. Cost of the repairs and repaint were valued
at £1,459.0.0. ($2,918.00). Repairs from August 1959 to November 1968
were all made by contractor J.C. Gabb of Newcastle.

In 1973 low enrolments almost caused the closure of Laguna School.
However, new settlement and housing have given the school some assurance
of continuance. A small booklet was prepared to recognise the first
100 years of Laguna School.

The Laguna School residence was demolished in 1976.

In 1981, the Centenary of the stone school was celebrated with
due pomp and ceremony. A large number of visitors, local residents and
old pupils gathered at the school to recognise a grand achievement.
