                The Education Department's painting and repair staff on 8th
October 193~ made repairs to both the school and the residence. Their
work was assessed at a value of £123.16. O. ($247.60) and included over-
hauling the roof, renewing the guttering and replacing some flooring.
Two years later, on 9th August 1933, this same works staff section made
another £43.0.8. ($86.08) worth .of repairs to the residence. A new
water tank costing £4.10.0. ($9.00) was supplied on 2nd May 1935 by
R.A. Parker of Wollombi. A second tank (800 gallons) was sited on 13th
September 1937 by the Education Department's building section.

                W.H. Brown, the Laguna School's neighbour, on 6th October 1937,
reluctantly agreed to renovate his half of the dividing fence. He strongly
complained that it had been a three rail fence, but earlier teachers had
cannibalised the bottom rails for firewood. The Department's . building
branch's share of the fence repair cost was £12.17. 5. ($25.75).

                On 14th December 1939, a verandah was enclosed on the residence
and a combined laundry/bathroom was added. The Education Department's
painting and repair staff had supplied a new porcelain enamel sink.
The total costs were assessed at £65.0.0. ($130.00).

                Essential repairs were made to Laguna School Teacher's residence
on 8th April 1952. The Public Works Department had estimated that these
repairs would cost £269.0.0. ($5J8.00), but the actual costs amounted
to £411.12. O. ($823.20). On the same occasion, minor repairs were made
to the school building and fencing. These repairs cost £180.0.0. ($360.00).

                Further major renovations and repairs were made to the Laguna
School by Departmental repair staff on 12th August 1953. These were
assessed at £1,010.0.0. ($2,020.00). Still further alterations costing
£500.0.0. ($1,000.00) were completed on 13th December 1955.

                Laguna Provisional School was raised in status to that of a
Public School in January 1957.
