Information technology use

As a student participating in an increasingly online environment, there are guidelines and rules for appropriate use of information technology. At University, this includes standalone or networked microcomputers, multiuser computers, and other IT resources accessible via on-campus and dial-in networks.

The University of Newcastle defines these by including guidelines for:

General Use

You must not attempt to interfere with the operation of the University's computing and communication facilities or any other facilities using the University's computer network.

Protecting Your Personal Information

Take measures to prevent unauthorised access to your accounts. You are not permitted to share your University username (uni ID) and password with anyone, and ensure that you change your password regularly.

Appropriate Online Behaviour

Appropriate online behaviour means you must not use the University's computing and communications facilities to send or download obscene, offensive, harrasssing or illegal content.
