Parts of an essay: The conclusion
The conclusion is generally the last part of your essay to be completed. The conclusion:
- Summarises your thesis argument
- Summarises case evidence (paragraph conclusions)
- Links the significance of the evidence to your thesis
- May raise implications or questions.
The role of the conclusion is to leave no doubt that you have:
- Understood and answered the question
- Followed the instructions and kept within the limits
- Applied critical analysis in the selection and use of evidence to make your case.
