discharge was allowed to flow into Black Creek. The pumping station site on part
of Portion 9, Parish of Cessnock and the treatment works land on part of portion
25, Parish of Cessnock were acquired by purchase from J. Slade on 13th March, 1931.

              The Cessnock Sewerage Works were constructed by the N.S.W. Public Works
Department and transferred to the H.D.W.B. on 13th June, 1933. The notification
of this transfer appears in Government Gazette No. 98 dated 30th June, 1933.
Expenditure cost plus interest for the sewerage works had esculated to £248,275.0.0
($496' 550. 00) .

              During 1931 when the capacity of Neath Pumping Station was being reviewed
and investigated to handle the additional demands that would follow with the
introduction of the Cessnock Sewerage Scheme, this listing from a diagram dated
30th June, 1931 shows the pumps and mains pipeline thus:-
