DAIRY ARM SCHOOL

A. Lochrin advised his superiors and he was dire~ted to draw up specifications
and to have the work carried out. William Mc Donald, a local resident,
completed the repair work project.

Albert J. Mc Mullen, on 16th October 1897, replaced the bark
on the school house roof with corrugated iron. He supplied a new tank
to store drinking water. For this work, Mr. A. Mc Mullen was paid
£13.16.0 ($27.60).

Early in 1900, John Norton, the Member for the Northumberland
Electorate, drew to the attention of the Department of Public Instruction,
that there was a need for a weathershed at Dairy Arm school with its twenty
(20) pupils. The Department replied that it was not their policy to erect
weathersheds at 'half-time' schools.

Teacher Alexander Lochrin, in March 1900, requested his Department
to make some repairs to the Dairy Arm School. The following were some of
the repairs sought:-

                        2. Repair wall slabs.
                        3. Replace plaster on the fireplace.

Mr. John Johnston, of Wattagan, completed these repairs on 7th April 1900,
for which he was paid £13.8.0 ($26.80).

A new teache~, Mr. David Prentice, appointed on 10th March 1905,
to the 'half-time' schools, Dairy Arm and Wattagan, sought a new stove
and a new water storage tank to be erected at the teacher's residence
owned by Mr. F. Lynch. The Department of Public _Instruction requested
Mr. Lynch to supply these items. Mr. Lynch did so at a cost of £2.5.0
($4.50) for the tank and £4.10.0 ($9.00) for the stove. Mr. Lynch then
raised the residence rent from £15.0.0 (SJ0.00) to £18.0.0 ($36.00) per annum.

On 8th May 1906, Mr. F.B. Woodbury was engaged at a price of
£14.5.6 ($28.56) to maze the following repairs:-
