Kearsley Shire Council provided unemployed relief work to improve
Congewai School grounds. It removed dead and useless trees; filled in
stump holes; graded and levelled areas. The work was completed on 16th
July 1937.

Local residents erected new fencing at the school, which was
completed on 14th November 1940. The Education Department paid £16.10.0
($33.00) for the fencing materials used.

Portion No. 107, Parish of Ellalong, of two acres adjoining the
old Section No. 82, the Congewai School site, was resumed on 4th May 1949
under the Public Works Act of 1912 to increase the size of the school
playground. This is shown as being Lot 33 D.P. 7396 and belonging to
H.D. Gondran, who was paid £20.0.0 ($40.00) compensation.
