Internet

The Internet has been described as a "network of networks", providing access to a huge and diverse range of information and resources. However, unlike libraries which select and evaluate information based on the quality and appropriateness of each resource, the Internet contains everything from the definitive to the fabricated. No-one is in charge of content available via the Internet - it is a self-publishing medium.

The task of finding information on the Internet can range from an extremely easy exercise, to an impossibly difficult chore. This is due to the sheer volume of information available, as well as the lack of a common language and comprehensive indexing.
