Finding journal articles

2. Using library databases

In addition to the articles on your reading list you may need to search for more articles on your topic.

Library databases are online indexes, often containing the full-text of articles and/or an abstract. Abstracts are a brief summary of the article's content. They help you decide if the article is useful for your assignment topic. Databases are searchable by author, title, keyword & subject, and usually include an online thesaurus and help.

University libraries subscribe to a broad range of library databases which are accessible within the library, elsewhere on campus, or from any computer with an Internet connection such as your home or office.
