Reliability
Assessing the reliability of information will depend on the type of information being considered. For example:
- If you are evaluating the results of a test or survey, you will need to evaluate the consistency of the results
- If evaluating a document from the web are the statements made referenced appropriately?
- If evaluating a web site, is it part of an organisation’s web site? You can tell a lot about a web site by looking at its web address (often called URL - Uniform Resource Locator)
The basic format of a typical URL is:
service_name://host.domain_name/directory/filename |
