Authority

Some information sources clearly indicate who is responsible for the work. This may be an individual author, or a sponsoring agency, such as a government department.

Ask yourself:

• Can the author be identified?
• Is the author qualified to write on the topic?
• Is the author an expert in the field?
• What else has the author written?
• Who is the publisher of the item?
• Is the information reproduced from another source?
