10. Recommendations

 

Not all reports require recommendations, but when they are required that should be connected to your conclusions and focus on specific issues.

 

They may relate to subject areas for further investigation or be concerned with methodological issues.

 

As suggestions for action, your recommendations must be realistic, relevant to current policy or practice, and take account of emerging trends.

 

Although they need to be precise, recommendations do not need to contain detail and are usually expressed in a single sentence.
