Structuring the introductory paragraph
In general, an introduction consist of a single paragraph.
The structure of the introductory paragraph is slightly different from the 'body' paragraphs in that it introduces content rather than trying to prove a case. Therefore, it rarely contains references.
The 'topic sentence' is your thesis statement (planning module); you set the scene of your essay through a clear thesis statement.
The thesis statement is followed by a supporting statement. Complex essay questions may need more than one supporting sentence.
Similar to body paragraphs, the introduction needs a concluding sentence to show your case.
