Essays

In general, essays require either a descriptive or an analytical/argumentative approach in their investigation and writing. Academic study usually requires you to use the analytical/argumentative approach.

Formal academic essays have a title, but do not have section headings for the organisation of content. Instead, essays use paragraphs and language to create a basic three part structure comprising of:

1. An introduction
2. A body
3. A conclusion

Each part has its own specific function in a properly constructed essay, and no one part is more or less important than the other two.
