Writing an annotated bibliography
To create an annotated bibliography you must:
1. | Consider
the scope of resources to be included: - What type of publications (books, journal articles, websites, etc) will be included? - How many (will the bibliography include just a sample, or a comprehensive listing)? |
2. | Conduct a search for the resources. Work
through the 'Finding
information module to gain an understanding of how
to identify and locate material that meets your information
need.
|
3. | Evaluate sources retrieved. Even if a resource is considered of limited value, inclusion in an annotated bibliography can demonstrate the scope of your search. |
4. | Once a final group of sources have been selected, include full bibliographic details for each item in the referencing style specified by your school or faculty. |
5. | Write an annotation for each source, following the suggestions on the following page.
